Software Maintenance Service (SMS) is an annual program offered to our customers that provides Technical Support, most recent software upgrades, and license configuration changes.
The license must be current on SMS to make changes to the configuration of your license such as:
Being current on SMS or having valid Maintenance will allow you to receive product upgrades to access newer releases as well as permit you to reach out to Technical Support for assistance.
You can obtain information about our Software Maintenance Service program on the web at:
If you allow the Maintenance on your MathWorks license to expire you will not be permitted to make changes to your license configuration or receive assistance from Technical Support until your Maintenance Agreement is renewed.
For Perpetual Licenses, the ability to activate and download your license is not restricted by being current on Software Maintenance Service. Please note that you can only access new releases of your software if your license is current on Software Maintenance Service. If the license is not current on Software Maintenance Service, the license will be restricted to the most current release at the time Maintenance expired.
If you have a license with expired maintenance that you would like to renew to enjoy the benefits of our Software Maintenance, please contact MathWorks Sales.

Visit MATLAB Central "My Account". In the "My Software" area, click on the license number of interest to you. Under "Manage Products" you will see your licensed products along with "Service End Date", which is the date that software maintenance for the product expired or will expire.
