I guess, that this is the appearing error message. You forgot to mention, when this message appears.

It seems like the message is clear. So what exactly is your problem?

I believe he is referring to this error during installation, after the licensing step is complete.

You could get that error if you attempted to install a toolbox without having the base version of MATLAB for that toolbox installed.

If you purchased the products in different version such as 2012a of Matlab(matlab 7.1) and 2012b of Simulink(matlab 8.0),

then , you need to get the installation code and license file for 2012a and not for 2012b.
