Please, how many personal computers can I install the home license.

Hi,

For an individual license,

Activation limit - upto 4 computers

Simultaneous Session limit - Unlimited sessions on no more than two computers simultaneously

This advice does not apply to Home Licenses, only to Standard licenses (also known as Commercial or Professional licenses -- three different ways of talking about the same license.)

The limit for Home licenses is installation and activation on one computer. This is the same limit as for Student licenses.

Academic licenses have a different limit.

Full-price licenses always have more capabilities (more software features or better license terms) than discount licenses. This is because governments often have "best price" clauses in their purchasing agreements: governments are sometimes literally not legally permitted to pay more for the same capabilities, so if you as a vendor want them to pay full price, you have to make the full price be "better" than the discounted version.

Thus, a full price MATLAB license can be installed on more computers than a discounted (Home, Student) license.

I used to do license purchasing when I was a government systems administrator; I had no moral or ethical problem paying what the software was worth, but if Mathworks had offered the Student license as having more capabilities (better license terms for example) than the Standard license, then I would only have been able to pay the student price or else I would not have been able to purchase from Mathworks at all.

Hi there,

I have a Matlab home licence and want to activate matlab installed on my second computer.

But it gave me an Error 1,616 attached (also showing my licence number)

My understanding is that I can install it on my other computer (up to 4 computer).

Please advise.

1. License Options

1.1. Individual License Option

(ii) A Named User may install the Programs on up to four (4) different

Computers but may not use a Program on more than two (2) Computers

simultaneously, except that Student and Home Licenses are limited to a

single Computer.

(iii) The Licensee may redesignate the Named User authorized to use a

Program, whether temporarily or not, up to four (4) times in any twelve

(12) month period, except that Student and Home Licenses are not

transferable.
