Matlab R2017b or R2018 compatible with Mojave (macOS 10.14)?

Hi, Did someone already try to use Matlab R2017 or R2018 on the new macOS Mojave (from beta version)? Just to know if I can update safely to this OS when available soon. Thanks in advance, Pierre

2016 MacBook Pro, external drive, Mojave, Matlab 2018b. "bench" runs, Live Scripts in "demos" do not. I remember when MathWorks didn't have a Mac version. I'm happy to wait if that means MathWorks can still justify the expense of supporting the Mac platform.
Working now. Don't know what changed.

Hi Pierre,
I just installed Matlab R2018b in my MacBook Pro with macOS Mojave and apparently everything is working fine. I did not test much in depth, but both Matlab and Simulink basic functionalities are working without problems.
Is important to note that although it is working for me I have not read anywhere claiming that Matlab R2018b officially supports macOS Mojave.

Side note: do not expect to be able to use MATLAB with Mojave under Parallels at this time. Parallels 13 did not support Mojave, and under Parallels 14, MATLAB is not able to find the MAC address of the Ethernet to authenticate to. (This a problem with all versions of MATLAB and all versions of MacOS under Parallels 14. I have a case open with Parallels)
Hi, thanks you all for your answers. Here my feedback too: I installed Matlab R2017b on Mojave, it seems to work fine as well. Even integrated SVN/Git subversion is working as expected.

Why is it that Mathworks doesn't have an official stance on compatibility with new OSes when they are released? Don't they have a matter of months to work with beta versions? I recall it took something like a week to give users a don't-upgrade warning for either Sierra or High Sierra. I wouldn't upgrade my OS without the all-clear, but you can't expect every user to exercise such caution, and it seems that part of the benefit of paying for MATLAB would be that you have an organization looking out for less-savvy users.

Yes you are right. In my opinion this is a shame that users have to check compatibility by themselves... it is not like the product was open source or something like that... For the price of this product I expect feedback from Mathwork before GM release of a new OS, based on beta version at least.
My understanding with the Sierra problems was that it was due to a late change in environment language name processing, three weeks before the final beta release.
Apple accelerated its beta schedule a small number of years ago, and at the same time shifted the time of year. I posted a summary of the dates a few years ago showing this clearly. So basically Apple now sends OS releases to beta at pretty much the same time that Mathworks needs to lock down its fall release to any but show stopper bugs, in order to be able to send the release to production. Mathworks has had the same release schedule since 2006; Apple on the other hand refuses to commit to a release schedule ("We release when it is ready"). If Apple were to commit to a release schedule, then maybe it would be reasonable for Mathworks to schedule around that, but Apple has resisted doing so.
Definitely helps explain the incompatibility with Sierra. Thanks, Walter.
However, this doesn't explain why Mathworks can't say yea or nay on support by the time the new OS is released, since they've had their own release (not to mention prior versions) and the OS developer beta for months. The uncertainty of the Mac OS release schedule makes it understandable why full compatibility might need to wait.
I just tried R2018b in Mojave (inside a virtual machine). I confirm I had no issues, and importantly, I could compile mex files with XCode10 (I only installed the command line tools, which are enough).
Hi all,
MATLAB R2018b is fully supported and qualified for use on macOS 10.14 Mojave. The list of supported macOS versions and hardware requirements for MATLAB can be found on the Mac tab on the MATLAB system requirements page:
Hope this helps.

Pierre, which virtual machine software were you using?

My R2018b freezes whenever I click anywhere in the editor, while keyboard inputs respond instantaneously. The freeze goes away in about 1 second but come back in next click. Don't know if it makes any difference, I'm on a freshly installed Mojave.

Same for my mac as well, was on the beta for awhile and had this issue. I have uninstalled Matlab 2018 and reinstalled it to no avail.
Thanks, Gavin. Was about to try reinstallation.

I have the same problem with the editor. Every time I try to use it, the computer freezes. I am running Sierra on a macbook pro. Does anyone has an idea on what to do?

If you are using any window management app, try closing that. I'm using Magnet and closing that fixed the freezes.
Awesome! It worked! Thanks a lot!
I am experiencing the same thing. MATLAB freezes up on me once I'm typing in the editor and refuses to come to normal. I don't think I have Magnet on my Mac. It's a Mac book Pro with OS iSierra. What can I do to get MATLAB working right and never freeze again?
I can't believe that, I closed my Magnet and the freezes were fixed immediately. Thank Zhou so much!
OMG! Thanks Zhou, your comment is helpful for fixing that freezing issue! Also, i found that there is a feature of Magnet which ignores MATLAB, still we can use Magnet for other applications. I think Magnet seems to have several bugs whenever I tried to use MATLAB IDE in Mojave. For example, after ignoring MATLAB in Magnet, and when I switch any window to MATLAB, there is a freeze in a second. Need to report these to developers of Magnet.
Have the same freeze issue. Although not using any windows management app. If I open a script and try to navigate inside it using keyboard at first then the editor starts functioning as normal. No permanent fix as of now.

Anyone?
I have Mojave and Matlab R2018b, I also had this same issue, freezing when click on the editor. Jiannan Zhou's comment helped, I had used a software called cinch or something for window management. Removed it and it works now. Thanks Jiannan Zhou.
Matlab 2018b Update 2 fixed this issue. To update, Matlab -> Help -> Check for Updates.
@ Thanks Zhou.
many thanks for the recommendation. It works well now.
