Getting path between two point in a binary image

1-I basically want a code that would ask the user to select the start and end point and would generate a path ,as referred to in the video.And finally shows an animation of the same as in the video. http://in.mathworks.com/videos/work-with-mobile-robotics-algorithms-in-matlab-100084.html .

2-Further rather than assigning nodes at arbitary positions by the software can it ask us to select the node positions.
