Matlab 2025 hangs itself whenever I try to plot a figure

136 views (last 30 days)
I used MATLAB 2025b on a Windows 11 and whenever I try to plot a figure MATLAB hanged itself and I had to kill it in the task manager. Even a simple plot caused this. At first I suspected that my external monitor causes this because on that Simulink fonts are to big and when I move the Simulink window to the laptop monitor it is ok (on moving back it is to big again). It turned out that the problem is that starting MATLAB 2025a MATLAB does not use Java ( https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/2179665-how-can-i-enable-java-in-matlab-r2025a-and-newer ) and this is the problem (turning on Java did not help). My current workarround is that I moved back to MATLAB 2024b and now everything works fine. Does anybody have an idea how to fix this?
Thanks!

I also have the same issue at least most of the time, I tried 2026a prerelease and this "seemed" ok, has it been fixed there?

Hello! I am currently in touch with Matlab support. I will let you know if we manage to fix it.

For now I’ve reverted to 2024b and things are working again — but this regression in 2025 seriously disrupts basic plotting tasks. Hope someone from MathWorks addresses this soon.

Hello,
I also had the same problem. I still don't know why, but it started working properly once I removed my startup.m script. I used this script to make changes in default plot configuration, so I supose that was the problem.
