The input format when setting the prismatic joint input options to motion/provided by input

"I understand that when the prismatic joint input is set to motion/provided by input, the position, velocity, and acceleration values are required. However, I am unsure of the exact usage examples in this case. Could someone please provide some clarification?"

Hi,
Here is a brief explanation of the use-case for using 'Provided By Input' or 'Automatically Computed' for any parameter:
  • Provide By Input: This option is used when you explicity want to specify the amount of 'Force' or 'Motion' for the joint, lets say using some 'Constant' value.
  • Automatically Computed: This is used where you want the mechanism to automatically calculate the amount of 'Force' or 'Motion' which is required for motion of entire mechanism. When used this no need to explicitly specify force on this joint as it may compute it based on other input given somewhere else in mechanism.
For more details you can refer Specifying Joint Actuation Inputs.
