Want to buy toolboxes for an older version of Matlab without renewing the license

6 views (last 30 days)
Hello,
just a quick question. I would like to buy two additional toolboxes for the home license of the version 2019b of Matlab. My problem is that this is only possible if I pay for another year of service which to be honest i am not going to do because it would cost me additional 200 € for an suppport i actually don't need because the installation works fine so far. Is there no way to buy licenses for toolboxes for the version i have without paying for an additional year of service?
I admit it might be a silly question :-)

Historically the rules were:
  • purchasing against a previous release was permitted for a period, a period that was not clearly documented publicly but which seemed to be for the second release prior to the current release (e.g., if the current release was R2023b then you could buy back to R2022b). Using this option required going through the Sales department. The exact policy might have changed by now.
  • otherwise the policy was that you had to purchase Software Maintenance Service (SMS) retroactively. Historically the limit was 4 years of SMS; that might have changed by now
  • beyond 4 years your only option was to purchase current licenses. This does not require that you use the newest release: the new license entitles you to use all previous versions. So it would be valid to purchase against (currently R2023b) but turn around and activate (say) R2019b
