How do I install MathWorks Products in preparation for a MathWorks Private training event?

MathWorks products may be installed by following the stages below:

Stage 1: Assigned system admin only: Download required files

Stage 2: All participants: Install MATLAB

Stage 1 - Download the Required Files Once

Important Note: Only assigned system administrator can download these files.

The following files are needed from the MathWorks website 

• MATLAB installation files
• MATLAB license file
• File Installation Key 

Download MATLAB Installation Files

1. Visit our Downloads page at mathworks.com/downloads.
2. Sign in with your MathWorks Account.
   • Please note, the ISO image will only be available to the person the trial was sent to. Do not forward the email to class participants.
3. Use left drop-down to select the Release of MATLAB.
4. Use right drop-down to select I Want To Get ISOs and DMGs.
   
5. Click the blue Download for <Operating System>
6. To select an alternate operating system, click on the downward arrow on the blue download button. 

Download MATLAB License File and File Installation Key

1. Visit our License Center at mathworks.com/licensecenter/trials.
2. Click the trial license number for the course and select the tab Install and Activate.
3. Click the blue download arrow under Get License File and click Download License.
4. Highlight and copy the File Installation Key (FIK) on this page. 
5. Paste into Notepad and save as ‘fik.txt’. 

Save and share files with participants

Save the following to a removable storage or network share:

• ISO saved as R20XXy_OperatingSystem.iso
• License file saved as license.lic.
• FIK saved as fik.txt

Stage 2 - Installation

Important note: You will need to save the ISO file to a shared space and install on each machine that will be used during the training event.

1. Create a temporary folder on the C: drive and copy R20XXy_OperatingSystem.iso, license.lic, and fik.txt into it from the removable storage / network share.
2. Double-click the ISO file to mount it as a drive.
3. Launch the installer by double clicking the setup.exe executable within the mounted ISO and provide admin credentials when prompted.
4. The installer will open, click Advanced Options and select I have a File Installation key.
5. Accept the Agreement and enter the FIK from the copied over fik.txt file and click next.
6. Select the license file from the temporary folder that was created.
7. Select the destination folder for installation, it’s recommended to keep the default location.
8. Select all products when the product check list is displayed.
9. Elect to add a shortcut on the desktop and start the menu app when prompted.
10. Review your selections and then click Begin Install.
11. Following installation, verify MATLAB is installed by launching it and ensuring a ‘Ready’ is present in the bottom left corner of the window.
12. Delete the temporary folder that you created from step 1.
