MathWorks products may be installed by following the stages below:
Stage 1: Assigned system admin only: Download required files
Stage 2: All participants: Install MATLAB
Stage 1 - Download the Required Files Once
Important Note: Only assigned system administrator can download these files.
The following files are needed from the MathWorks website
- MATLAB installation files
- MATLAB license file
- File Installation Key
Download MATLAB Installation Files
- Visit our Downloads page at mathworks.com/downloads.
- Sign in with your MathWorks Account.
- Please note, the ISO image will only be available to the person the trial was sent to. Do not forward the email to class participants.
- Use left drop-down to select the Release of MATLAB.
- Use right drop-down to select I Want To Get ISOs and DMGs.
- Click the blue Download for <Operating System>
- To select an alternate operating system, click on the downward arrow on the blue download button.
Download MATLAB License File and File Installation Key
- Visit our License Center at mathworks.com/licensecenter/trials.
- Click the trial license number for the course and select the tab Install and Activate.
- Click the blue download arrow under Get License File and click Download License.
- Highlight and copy the File Installation Key (FIK) on this page.
- Paste into Notepad and save as ‘fik.txt’.
Save and share files with participants
Save the following to a removable storage or network share:
- ISO saved as R20XXy_OperatingSystem.iso
- License file saved as license.lic.
- FIK saved as fik.txt
Stage 2 - Installation
Important note: You will need to save the ISO file to a shared space and install on each machine that will be used during the training event.
- Create a temporary folder on the C: drive and copy R20XXy_OperatingSystem.iso, license.lic, and fik.txt into it from the removable storage / network share.
- Double-click the ISO file to mount it as a drive.
- Launch the installer by double clicking the setup.exe executable within the mounted ISO and provide admin credentials when prompted.
- The installer will open, click Advanced Options and select I have a File Installation key.
- Accept the Agreement and enter the FIK from the copied over fik.txt file and click next.
- Select the license file from the temporary folder that was created.
- Select the destination folder for installation, it’s recommended to keep the default location.
- Select all products when the product check list is displayed.
- Elect to add a shortcut on the desktop and start the menu app when prompted.
- Review your selections and then click Begin Install.
- Following installation, verify MATLAB is installed by launching it and ensuring a ‘Ready’ is present in the bottom left corner of the window.
- Delete the temporary folder that you created from step 1.
