Modeling Advanced Wireless Communications for Teaching and Research
Overview
This webinar will present an overview on how professors and researchers can easily address the modeling and simulation of advanced wireless communications systems. Learn how to quickly create a custom signal waveform using a MATLAB app, load a 3D indoor scenario and model a wireless channel with ray-tracing, set up a satellite constellation and a ground station, interactively create a standard-compliant 5G waveform, and understand Bluetooth LE interference management. In addition, understand how to test the teaching-intended ADALM-PLUTO SDR hardware.
Highlights
- Brief introduction to the MathWorks wireless communications suite
- Customization of a signal waveform with through a MATLAB app
- Modeling of an indoor wireless channel with ray-tracing
- Creation of a standard-compliant 5G waveform
- Visualization of Bluetooth LE frequency hopping technique
- Setting up a satellite communications scenario
- Hands-on with ADALM-PLUTO SDR
About the Presenter
Dr. Alberto Alvarez is an academic customer success engineer at MathWorks. He holds a MSc degree in telecommunication engineering from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and a PhD degree in communications from the University Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). He is responsible for providing teaching and research guidance to Universities in Spain and Portugal in the use of MATLAB and Simulink with a focus on wireless communications. Prior to joining MathWorks, he worked as software engineer for aircraft communications development and testing, and as researcher and teaching assistant at the UC3M Signal Theory and Communications department.
