drag and drop in matlab app designer 2020b

We are trying to implement a drag and drop function in the app desinger (version 2020b), similar to what was done here:

The problem is this was implemented using the UIcontrol feature, which cannot be used with the MATLAB app designer. the equivalent

UIbutton is very lacking in terms of features, and specificaly doesn't have the WindowButtonUpFcn function that is required for a drag and drop mechanism

is there a way to bypass this?

Hi,

As of now 'WindowButtonUpFcn ' is not supported with uibutton. I have brought this issue to the concerned people and it might be considered in any future release.
