Create a Parallel RL Branch in a custom .ssc that will mimic a Parallel RL Branch Component

I'm having trouble figuring out how to start or even impliment this. The goal of this to create a custom component as a new .ssc that will mimic a Parallel RL Branch component. Please offer guidance, not necessarily the answer but how to get started.
