How to obtain FFT from volt dataset?

I have a set of data that is measured in volts. The data are supposed to be used to analyzed a faulty gear. I need to be able to convert it from a time domain to frequency domain or an FFT. I'm not sure how to do so

I think what you are looking for is the fft function included in Matlab.
