I'm getting this error with syms, do you know how can I fix it?

Are you using R2019b on Mac Catalina?
I'm using the lastest MatLab version which is R2020a with High Sierra 10.13.6
That is the combination I normally use, R2020a with High Sierra, so I can say that it normally works...
Cool! But even though I'm using that combination I'm still experiencing the error with syms. Do you reccommend me to uninstall MatLab and then re-installing it?

I cannot reproduce your error. Try restarting MATLAB?

I already updated MatLab and also restarted it, but I'm having the same error with syms.
Here's another code showing the same error.
Is this all part of some larger code? What happens in a clean workspace when you just type syms x_1 in the Command Window? Do you still get the error?
Let's make sure you're calling the mupadmex MEX-file that is part of Symbolic Math Toolbox. What does this command display?
which -all mupadmex
Here's what I got when running which -all mupadmex
/Applications/MATLAB_R2020a.app/toolbox/symbolic/symbolic/mupadmex.mexmaci64
The location seems to be correct. There is nothing obvious, so I suggest you try contacting technical support directly. You can use the phone icon in the top right of this page to navigate to and submit a technical support request.
