Plotting from Matlab to Google Earth under OSX 10.8

Matlab R2012b

I have the ability to generate *.kml files and would like to have matlab spawn Google Earth and plot these files instead of having to double click the file in the OS and spawn. I believe it can be done under Windows using "winopen."

Is there any way to do it under Matlab under OSX?
