FMU export from Matlab

Hi, I am trying to create a FMU from a matlab toolkit called MSS. Is there anyone who can tell me if it is possible to export .fmu components from matlab? I know it is possible using simulink but I am trying to get around this.

Refer to the documentation on Export a Model as a Tool-Coupling FMU to export a Simulink model as a tool-coupling functional mockup unit (FMU).
