Confusion regarding uiswitch function in matlab GUI?

I have just started working on MATLAB GUI using GUIDE.I need a switch in my gui.I have figure named 'settings'. when i entered
%uiswitch(settings);
It is showing an error
'Functionality not supported with figures created with the figure function. For more information, see Graphics Support in App Designer'.
I want to know how to add these uiswitch feature to existing figures using GUIDE? Should i move to appdesigner?

You cannot add uiswitch to GUIDE created GUI. GUIDE created GUI use "traditional figures". App Designer uses UI Figures though and uiswitch can be used with it.
