arduino disconnecting with encoder

Hi
I use an encoder with a dc motor on arduino uno board, it counts the pulses of the encoder correctly in the low speed but when I increase the speed of the dc motor and I want to read the pulses of the encoder, the arduino connection would be lost! how can I fix it?
