help me to understand this line

hello.
semilogx(distance,y_free(1,:),'k-o',distance,y_free(2,:),'k-^',distance,y_free(3,:),'k-s')
what does this line mean?i can't understand what does 'k-o','k-s' etc terms mean.please someone help me

plot(1:10,rand(1,10),'k-o',1:10,rand(1,10),'k-s')
Read about plot. k-o, k-s stand for markers...they say plot a line (-) with circles (o) and squares(s) in black color (k).
