Octave band filter a frequency domain signal

I’ve computed a pressure signal in the time domain and converted it into the frequency domain using fft. Now I want to compute a 1/3 octave sound pressure level signal using MATLAB. It should be straightforward but I’m having problems to do this. Originally I should use a filter bank and run it through the frequency domain signal. Any hints how to implement this in Matlab in some working fashion?
