If your goal is to have Simulink read live data from a pulse oximeter, this can be done either with an A/D system: http://tinyurl.com/oximeter1
Or you data can be read directly from a serial USB oximeter. I use the Nonin Oximeters:
You will find that the state flow toolbox will accelerate the parsing of the Nonin serial protocol.
