How to get MatLab running again.

I have been running my MatLab R2013-Student (almost daily) for the past 5 years and as recently as a few days ago. Today I downloaded an upgrade to Java for OSX 2017-01 as instructed by an upload notice. Then I wanted to use MatLab and for the "License check failed. Invalid host. License manager error -9 message. Digging deeper I get a message that states that the hostid of my computer (which is correctly given) does not match the hosted of the license file (c8e0eb37a5e1). I am astronomer emeritus at Arecibo Observatory and when I go into an office there I can use their MatLab. I now suspect that my home Mac is linked to the observatory system (through email links perhaps) and my MatLab wants to link to the observatory license. Which I do not want to have happen because soon I am leaving for California where I will once again be using only my desk top machine at an apartment. What can you tell me? Thank you in advance.
