How to edit variable in 2017a?

I recently upgraded from 2011a to 2017a, and have a big problem to deal with.

Is there any way to edit "Variables" directly in MATLAB R2017a?

In MATLAB R2011a (or R2013a), "Vabiables" view was like this

Here the data is accessed like an excel file, and each element is modifiable.

However, it changed like this in MATLAB R2017a.

Now I can see all the data files, but there are two major differences. I cannot 1) modify each element and 2) copy&past it into excel.

Is there any way that I can get back to the formatting of R2011/2013a? Although I can get around this issue, it creates unnecessary steps and additional time to do such simple tasks.

If I recall correctly, this was a problem to some people in R2017a. Some people found that it helped to restart MATLAB.
