Why do I receive an error when I use the apostrophe (e.g. ') symbol in MATLAB Mobile on iOS 11?
For example, using apostrophes to designate a string, such as in the line:
>> disp('Hello World')
will produce an error when executed.

iOS 11 includes a feature called "Smart Punctuation" which automatically substitutes some forms of punctuation with others. It will, for instance, automatically change ' (neutral quotation, Unicode U+0027) to ’ (right single quotation mark, Unicode U+2019) This will cause issues when writing MATLAB code.
You can disable Smart Punctuation by opening the Settings app in iOS 11, selecting *General > *Keyboard *and toggling off *Smart Punctuation.
