when I am trying to install r2011a i get this error

If I recall correctly, in releases that old, there was one installer to download files from MATLAB and optionally to install, and a different installer that could install only from already downloaded files. If you attempted to use the "install from already downloaded files" installer on a system that did not have the files downloaded, then it would give you that message. It could also give you that message if you ran that installer from a different directory than the one that had the files downloaded into.
