Putting information on a imshow graph

Hello, I am currently using imshow to display a matrix that continuously updates(for conways game). I am trying to add a tile to the displayed image. Is there a way to do this? If not, is there a function that i can use to display the matrix in a similar way so i can add the information? Thanks

there is a function called title()

 x=rand(100,100);imshow(x),title('text')
