Error 337 repeatedly when try to activate matlab

Dear Mathworks,
I have moved to a new laptop and cannot activate R2017a. My license should be good for one laptop and one desktop. Thus I am expecting to lose the license for the old laptop as I set up this one. However, I get a Error 337 repeatedly while trying this over the last 24 hours. This indicates connection error.
I ran the following which indicate that there are no firewalls preventing me accessing the ports listed in your support page about this:
alex@fiona /home/alex> nc -z login.mathworks.com 443; echo $?
0
alex@fiona /home/alex> nc -z services.mathworks.com 80; echo $?
0
Please advise - I am unable to get work done because of this! Thanks, Alex
