Function to open a video file

I want to open a video file in my code. The 'aviread' function is not working. Is there any constraint on using this function???? Is this function available in higher versions of MATLAB only?

Which MATLAB version are you using?

Is it saying that aviread is not found, or is aviread saying that it cannot find the codec for that video?

I am using MATLAB 7.0.1.

it gives following errors

Error using==>audiovideo\private\findchunk

Incorrect chunk size information in AVI file

Error in==>aviinfo at 90

[chunk, msg]=findchunk(fid,'RIFF');

Error in==>aviread at 49

info=aviinfo(filename,'Robust');
