How to use MatPower for power flow analysis of distribution network?

74 views (last 30 days)
Hi. I am using IEEE 14 bus network with MATPOWER. I want to take this network as a distribution system with one substation (33KV) and consider the rest of the buses as 11KV feeders. The bus 1 is the first 11 KV feeder and so on. My questions are: 1. How should i change the data in MatPower to reflect these changes and obtain the power flow results? 2. Can i use the same data as given in MATPOWER case14.m? or change it.
I am not sure of these two things... please help me

Not really specific to matpower usage. But if you need to analyse a network with different voltage level, the network parameters such as cables and over head lines need to be adapted to such voltage levels due to a change in r, L and C at a particular Voltage. If you just change transformer voltages and loads, what you will get are not realistic results at such a voltage level.

but how the load flow can be done by matpower? regardless of the given cases, beacuse i want to apply it on my own simulink system

A power distribution system (PDS) is a complex system comprising numerous interconnected loads and power sources, which must be carefully managed to avoid a cascading effect of load losses and voltage profile deterioration. This work proposes an optimal method for optimizing NR problems in a PDS for power loss reduction and VP improvement.
