How to get value from GUI and use it into another .m file ?

I have made a GUI. There is a function (.m file) which is not into the GUI but outside it. But i want to get a value from GUI and use it to that .m file and GUI as well.

Actually i want to pass value from an editbox(GUI) to a variable of an external function.
