Can anyone please tell me what is the function of "table2" command, in MATLAB?

I know that "table2" is obsolete now, but I wanted to know, what is its function, syntax etc. I have searched regarding this, but in vain. There is no document regarding "table2" command anywhere. Somewhere I have read that it is to be replaced by "interp2". It will be helpful if I can get insight on "table2".
