Hi Mael,
The Two-Quadrant DC-DC Converter can be used to represent a bidirectional interface between a DC bus and a battery in a microgrid model because it allows current to flow in both directions while maintaining a fixed voltage polarity (see Simscape Electrical documentation: https://www.mathworks.com/help/sps/powersys/ref/twoquadrantdcdcconverter.html ).
• Place the converter between the DC bus and the battery, with the regulated side typically connected to the DC bus and the battery on the load side.
• When current flows from the DC bus to the battery, the battery is charging.
• When current reverses from the battery to the DC bus, the battery is discharging, enabling bidirectional power exchange.
• Ensure the control strategy (duty cycle or current control) allows current reversal so the converter can transition between charge and discharge modes.
For applications that require explicit bidirectional topology modeling, you may also consider the Bidirectional DC-DC Converter block: https://www.mathworks.com/help/sps/ref/bidirectionaldcdcconverter.html
