Automated Driving Toolbox 3D simulation on Macbook Air M4

101 views (last 30 days)
Hey guys!
I just purchased a Macbook Air M4 because i needed it for my dissertation and it turns out it won't run Unreal Engine powered 3D simulations. I'm working on Automated Driving Toolbox in Simulink and I run radar and camera powered assist systems like Front Assist, Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control, and now I need to start working on V2X comms. I'm now on the fence because I feel like I have to return my Macbook even though i clearly dont want to because i love it but I have no choice if i cant do my work on it.
Do you guys now of any solutions? Matlab Online won't work due to the sheer size of my project and it just takes forever to run.
Thank you!

As far as i Know the unreal engine powered simulations in matlab use DirectX 12 and Parallels only supports up to DX11. I looked up online for this option and most sources believe it would just crash on Run.

I see. I would not have thought about those factors.

Hello this is Nishan from the Simulink 3D Animation product team that owns the Unreal Engine interface to MATLAB/Simulink! Unfortunately, we do not support Unreal Engine cosimulations with MATLAB/Simulink on Mac just yet. MATLAB Online does not support Unreal Engine simulation either. These are documented in our limitations:
I know this is a little frustrating (I've used Macs in the past and loved it!) but for now, we don't have a good workaround or suggestion to perform Unreal Engine cosimulation on Mac except by using some form of virtual machine with the necessary software and/or hardware prerequisites. We are aware of the requests for this capability and will consider supporting Mac with this functionality in a future release.
