- Close MATLAB
- Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.
- In the newly opened window in the bottom left corner of your screen type in the following: %appdata%
- Press Enter on your keyboard. This will open the "Roaming" folder.
- Navigate into the "MathWorks" folder and then "MATLAB" folder.
- Rename the folder for your release of MATLAB, e.g. R20XXy to R20XXy_old. Do not remove any folder that ends with "_licenses".
- Create an empty folder with the original name, such as R2025a if regenerating preferences for R2025a. Creating this empty folder will prevent MATLAB from importing a preference directory from a previous release.
- Launch MATLAB again.

I had matlab installed with a trial version for few weeks and today i uninstalled it and freshly installed it again with my university account today. Whenever I open Matlab , it just shows a white background for few seconds and then it closes itself. I have no choice but to use the web version for now. But is there a fix possible for this problem? I am on windows 11 24h2 (OS Build 26100.6584)

Hi Arpan,
I understand that you are experiencing an issue where MATLAB (R2025a) closes unexpectedly after displaying a white screen for a few seconds on your Windows 11 system.
You can try the following workarounds:
1) Start MATLAB as an administrator and make sure to have updated to latest drivers of your graphic card.
2) Resetting corrupt preferences:
The preferences will be regenerated automatically.
For more detailed troubleshooting, you can also refer to this answer by MathWorks Staff on a similar issue:
Hope this helps.
