I don't understand what port 1 of the Two-Quadrant DC/DC Converter is and what should I connect it to?

I want to use Average model (D-controlled),but i dont know port'1' of this block,Is it an output port? What does it mean in this device? If I want to design a battery and load system, what should I connect to port 1 of this converter?Could you please explain this port to me and its approximate physical or electrical meaning?

This is a two quadrant DC-DC converter operating in first and second quadrant. It has two sets of DC connections. However, because the negative connection is common, one end we only need to expose the positive terminal, that will be the ‘1’. It is basically the node between the two switches.
