As the title says,
What kind of motor did you use in Estimate PMSM Parameters Using Recommended Hardware?
Since there aren't many places that sell PMSM motors, I wonder if it's possible to replace them with BLDC motors.

While PMSM motors are ideal for this type of parameter estimation, BLDC motors "can" serve as a substitute due to their similar construction. However, it's important to note that PMSMs and BLDCs differ in their back EMF waveforms—PMSMs have sinusoidal back EMF, while BLDCs have trapezoidal. This difference means you might need to adjust your estimation process, particularly for the back EMF constant.
Most parameters such as phase resistance, d and q axis inductances, motor inertia, and friction constant are independent of the back EMF waveform. This means the MATLAB code and algorithms should work with either motor type for these parameters.
For the back EMF constant, you'll need to tweak the estimation to account for the trapezoidal waveform if you're using a BLDC motor. This adjustment is crucial to ensure accurate results.
However, since the example is intended for PMSM motor. You can check out vendors like Maxon, Kollmorgen, or Teknic. These companies often provide motors suitable for both educational and research purposes.
Online marketplaces such as Digi-Key, Mouser, or even Amazon might also have motors that fit your needs.
