the 404 error when installing HDL Verifier Support Package for Xilinx FPGA Boards

When I try to install the package of "HDL Verifier Support Package for Xilinx FPGA Boards",this warning always appears.
Then I look up the log in mathworks.log and find the reason is that the download link "https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM%20v2.12.28%20WHQL%20Certified.zip" reports a 404 error.
How to deal with this problem? Because the 404 error of the download link,I can't install the package "HDL Verifier Support Package for Xilinx FPGA Boards".Is there anyway to skip this step so that I can install the package?
Here's the log:

Hi 文杰 顾,
Recently, FTDI download URL got updated. Hence, FTDI JTAG D2XX library installation is broken in "HDL Verifier Support Package for Xilinx FPGA Boards" installation.
Could you please specify the MATLAB version (e.g., R2023a, R2023b, etc.) you are attempting to install this SPKG package on? So that I can provide you the CD image with installation instructions.
Thanks,
Heman, P

As a quick workaround, I have one solution as mentioned below:
After getting this "Download Error" message,
Press close button and perform the following steps.
Step 1: Navigate to the downloaded support package archive path.
For example: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\SupportPackages_R2023a2334271610521193129\archives\win64\3p
Step 2: Unzip this file "ftcjtag.instrset_win64_1690931601.zip" and open this file "toolbox\local\instrset\ftcjtag.instrset\win64.xml"
Step 4: Delete the original zip file "ftcjtag.instrset_win64_1690931601.zip" and zip the newly updated folder preserving the same name.
Step 5: Now, in the MATLAB command console issue the following commands:
>> window=matlab.internal.SupportSoftwareInstallerLauncher()
>> window.launchWindow('INSTALLFROMFOLDER','C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\SupportPackages_R2023a2334271610521193129\archives','','')
This will launch the support package installer as shown in the screenshot below:
Now, go-ahead with the installation of “HDL Verifier Support Package for Xilinx FPGA Boards".
Hope this resolves the installation issue.
Thanks,
Heman, P

Great! The problem has been solved. Thank you very much!
The problem is still not fixed. I can navigate to the downloaded support package archive path but the approach above does not work. I am using R2026a
my path is:
C:\Users\***\Downloads\MathWorks\SupportPackages\R2026a\archives\3p
Hi HDL Verifier users,
We have analyzed the issue reported during installation of the "HDL Verifier Support Package for AMD FPGA and SoC Devices" in MATLAB R2026a, where the FTDI JTAG D2XX library download fails with the message: “Failed to download the third-party software”.
Root Cause:
The 3rd-party instruction set is verified to be correct:
  • The download URL is valid and accessible via browser
  • The archive name and checksum values are correct
  • Installation instructions are valid
However, the FTDI website is currently protected by Cloudflare bot mitigation. This introduces a JavaScript-based challenge that must be executed before the actual file is served.
  • Browser downloads succeed because they can execute the JavaScript challenge
  • MATLAB’s installer uses a basic HTTP client (Java-based) that cannot execute this challenge
  • As a result, the installer receives a blocked or non-ZIP response (e.g., HTML/403 page), which leads to the observed download failure or “invalid file” error
Conclusion:
This is not an issue with our 3P instruction set or infrastructure.
The failure is caused by external changes on the FTDI download site that prevent programmatic downloads.
Workaround:
As a temporary solution, users can:
  1. Manually download the ZIP file from the FTDI website using a browser
  2. Place the file in the expected support package archives/3p directory
  3. Re-run the installation process
This allows the installer to detect the pre-downloaded file and complete successfully.
Next Steps:
We are evaluating options for a more robust long-term fix, such as hosting the dependency internally or updating the download mechanism.

Workaround: Installing FTDI JTAG Driver for HDL Verifier Support Package (R2026a)
You may encounter the following error while installing the support package:
“Failed to download the third-party software FTDI JTAG D2XX library”
This can occur due to restrictions on the third-party download site. Please follow the steps below to complete the installation.
Step-by-step workaround
Step 1: Download the required file manually
Download the following file using your web browser:
Step 2: Start the support package download in MATLAB
  1. Open MATLAB R2026a
  2. Go to:Add-Ons → Get Hardware Support Packages
  3. Select:HDL Verifier Support Package for AMD FPGA and SoC Devices
  4. Click Download (not Install)
Allow the process to fail with the download error.
(This step creates the required folder structure on your system.)Step 3: Copy the downloaded file
Place the downloaded ZIP file into the following folder:
C:\Users\<your-username>\Downloads\MathWorks\SupportPackages\R2026a\archives\3p\
Inside the folder that starts with:
ftcjtag.instrset_win64_...
Step 4: Resume the installation
Repeat Step 2 (start the download again).
MATLAB will detect the file you placed manually and complete the installation successfully.
Additional notes
  • Ensure the file name is exactly:CDM-v2.12.36.4-WHQL-Certified.zip
  • Do not rename or extract the ZIP file.
  • Make sure you copy the file into the correct folder created in Step 2.
Outcome
After following these steps, the support package installation should complete without the download error.

This worked for me. Thank you
Hi, this downloaded the toolbox successfully. But how to install it? what to do next please? thanks
I think I may have found a workaround that solved the problem on my machine.
Before clicking Install in the Download and Install Third-Party Tools page, try manually placing the required package into:
C:\ProgramData\MATLAB\SupportPackages\R2026a\downloads
Then go back to the installer and click Install again.
In my case, MATLAB detected the local package and the installation continued successfully.
