Matlab Mupad algo to M function to Simulink

I am looking at Matlab’s Simulink to build algorithms to eventual systematic models. As part of my workflow, I was thinking of using Mupad to build the algorithm, convert it to a Matlab M function, and then import that Simulink using a Custom M function block. Is there any performance hits of this approach I should be aware of before trying to implement? Or is it wise just to stick with building out algorithms 100% using Simulink and it’s equation block? I am trying understand the approach of each with the pros and cons of each. Thanks
