Buggy behavior with typing in the appdesigner editor

In Ubuntu, I can only type in the appdesigner editor after clicking out of, then back into, the editor window.

Any known fix for this?

I thought my window focus setting was set to "click to Focus", but after toggling to "Focus on Hover" then back to "Click to Focus" ... I'm able to easily use the editor.

BTW, I'm toggling this setting with the Gnome Tweak Tool as shown in the attachment.
