Hello 苏航 ,
I understand that you want to know about whether MATLAB 5G toolbox have 5G 3GPP Release 15 (phase2)/ Release 16 function capabilities. Although the specific timeline cannot be predicted or provided, here are the current capabilities of the toolbox.
The MATLAB 5G Toolbox primarily supports various features of the 3GPP 5G NR standard Release 15 (Rel-15) specifications. The toolbox provides functions and tools for the design, simulation, and testing of 5G communications systems.
The 5G NR standard defines two frequency ranges:
  1. Frequency Range 1 (FR1): This range includes sub-6 GHz frequencies, which are typically used for wider coverage and are considered an evolution of the LTE bands.
  2. Frequency Range 2 (FR2): This range includes frequencies in the millimeter-wave (mmWave) bands, typically from 24 GHz to 52 GHz, which offer higher data rates and capacity but have limited coverage and require advanced technologies like beamforming for effective use.
Release 16 (5G Phase 2) introduces additional enhancements and new features that build upon the initial Release 15 specifications. These include improvements in areas such as ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC), vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, industrial IoT, and support for non-terrestrial networks (NTN), among others.
However, the term "Type 2" is not commonly used as an official designation in the context of the 5G NR standard or the MATLAB 5G Toolbox. Nevertheless, the MATLAB 5G Toolbox does provide certain capabilities for simulating and analysing communication systems that operate in the mmWave bands (FR2). Release 16 focuses on expanding the capabilities of 5G across various spectrum ranges and use cases.
The toolbox includes features that support the modeling of beamforming, massive MIMO, channel coding, and other technologies that are critical for the use of mmWave frequencies. Additionally, it allows for the simulation of different channel models, including those that are specific to the propagation characteristics of mmWave frequencies.
