How I can change docked figures tabs postion from top to left in code ?

tg = uitabgroup(f, 'TabLocation', 'right');
tab1 = uitab(tg, 'Title', 'Figure 1');
tab2 = uitab(tg, 'Title', 'Figure 2');

Is this really the same as chosing a different "tabs position" in the GUI?
It seems not for me.
