Opening model tries to open project

When I try to open a model, a dialog box pops up asking if I want to open the project and model or just the model. Its like an old project is hanging around and being picked up or something. I can't find any reference to a project, but I am very new to the software. I have 3 other machines that open the model fine without this dialog box. Any ideas much appreciated, trying to get all machines functioning the same.
