I would like to determine the maximum frequency of a coded audio signal. I would be happy with any kind of helps.

Well, on the one hand, for any digitized signal, the maximum frequency that can be represented is half the sampling rate.
But if you are looking for frequency content more generally, the fft() function would be a good place to start.
