Comuting time of Lsim vs ode45?

Hi, I have a short question concerning solving a system of linear differential equations. I have implemented my system using ode45 and with transfer functions using lsim. Lsim is nearly 10 times faster than ode45, is there a reason why? Thanks for any help or answers. Best regards Antonia
