I want to run a simulink model and C sharp code simultaneously and pass variables between them, can this be done?

pretty much the title I basically want to pass at least one constantly updating double value (user input) into a simulink model and ideally get one back out. It doesn't seem like it should be too complex but I'm stumped. Any help would so greatly appreciated. Thanks
