To run the Matlab 5.3 as a regular user, just run it in compatibility mode with Windows 95.

So, with a User with Administrator privileges to
matlab runs normal, but with an unprivileged User
administrator it gives several errors before running.
Know how to resolve these errors?
Thanks!!

Note that MATLAB 5.3 is only supported under Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0 as specified in System Requirements - Release 11

The matlab 5.3 works on Windows XP, but only if the User has administrator privileges, if an ordinary user, it has several errors before starting. Know how to remedy such errors??
Thanks!!

Another interseting technical note :
Releases prior to R12.1 may not run under XP.

Following Aurelien Queffurust answer MATLAB might not work under Windows XP but there are other options, you can run one or more virtual OS on your system, for example the free VirtualBox software, you just need to get the old OS installation CD or image of the CD and the respective licence. After having the virtual OS installed you install MATLAB 5.3 on it. I recommend Windows NT 4.0 and all respective updates because it's one of the most stable and reliable Microsoft OS.

You would have administrator privileges on the virtual operating system that you installed.
