Install Products on University-Managed Computers — Campus-Wide License
This topic shows how to install MATLAB® and other products in classrooms, computer labs, high-performance computing (HPC) centers, and cloud or container environments. For instructions on enabling users to access products or install products themselves, see Provide Access to MathWorks Products for Campus-Wide License Users.
Install MATLAB
To install MATLAB products on multiple machines that have the same configuration:
Get the file installation key required to install the products. This numeric key controls which products can be installed based on a user's license.
Go to the License Center and sign in to your MathWorks® Account using your university email address.
Select the appropriate MATLAB license.
(Recommended) Select the MATLAB (Individual) license for computers that users sign in to using their university credentials.
Select the MATLAB (Designated Computer) license only in these cases:
The computer is permanently offline and can never connect to the internet.
The computer is used in a lab where students take tests offline.
(Not recommended) The computer is shared by multiple users through the use of generic usernames.
On the Installation and Activate tab, select Advanced Options, and copy the File Installation Key.
Follow the instructions in Install Products Programmatically to download an ISO containing all products, and then install the products from the command line using a noninteractive installer.
(Optional) Install support packages that you want to include on each computer by using MATLAB Package Manager. See Install Support Packages Programmatically.
If you do not know which support package your users need, they can install the support packages themselves using the Add-Ons panel in MATLAB.
After installation, users are prompted to sign in to their MathWorks Account the first time they run MATLAB on an online computer in a classroom or lab. If you install MATLAB on a virtual machine (VM), the user might need to sign in each time they run MATLAB, depending on whether the VM clears the user profile after each session.
Update Existing MATLAB Installation
To install the latest bug fix updates for existing installations of MATLAB, deploy the offline update package to each installation. See Update MATLAB on Offline Computer.
To uninstall any previous releases of MATLAB on the computer, see Uninstall MATLAB.
Upgrade MATLAB to New Release
To install the latest release of MATLAB so users can access new features or products added to the Campus-Wide License, see Get New MATLAB Release.
Install Other Products
To install other products that do not require MATLAB, see the documentation for the products: Install Polyspace, RoadRunner, and Server Products. These products use Concurrent licenses that are managed by a license server. To set up a license server, see Administer Concurrent and Network Named User Licenses.
Install Products in HPC Centers
To install MATLAB, MATLAB Parallel Server™, and other products in HPC centers or clusters, contact support for installation options.
Install Products in Cloud and Container Environments
The Campus-Wide License is preconfigured for cloud use. For details on the supported cloud and container environments, see Cloud Integrations.
