The "newtons_method" function finds the root of a differentiable, univariate function using Newton’s method, given the derivative of the function and an initial guess. The tolerance and maximum number of iterations can also be specified as optional inputs. This function is not intended to replace MATLAB's "fzero", which uses a combination of bisection, secant, and inverse quadratic interpolation methods.
