Compress "noisy" measurement data for plotting with TikZ/pgfplots
The very powerful pgfplots package can be used to create very high quality plots in TikZ/LaTeX. Unfortunately, the number of points in a line chart is limited to some 1000s because of memory limitations in the LaTeX kernel. This function helps to compress "noisy" measurement data for plotting with TikZ/pgfplots by selecting the most N important points for the display.
