This exercise assumes you are given a vowel sound that is characterized by a set of M (3) variable formants (both center frequency and bandwidth). It further assumes that the excitation of this vowel wound is from a specified periodic impulse or glottal pulse train of pitch period that is selected by the user. The exercise convolves the impulse response of the vowel sound with the periodic impulse/pulse train that represents the excitation function and plots the time and frequency responses (either linear or log magnitude frequency response) for the periodic impulse/pulse train, the vowel vocal tract impulse and frequency response, and the ideal periodic vowel signal and spectrum. The file '2.6 Ideal Vocal Tract Model.pdf' provides a User's Guide for this exercise.
